Renate's cousin Helga and her husband Hans picked us up at the hotel around 9 and drove us to their house, where we sat the peaceful garden. "Only the birds sing too loudly," Hans quipped -- it was really true, and even more amazing was the view from the gazebo in their garden of the vineyard across the Elbe River where we visited just 2 days ago.
Around lunch time, their two sons joined us for a trip to Meissen where we were to have lunch. We still remembered one of them from when he visited us in California many years ago when he was in his early 20's. Now he has two wonderful teenage daughters who we met briefly in the afternoon.
For lunch we drove to Meissen, where we had a great meal at a very nice restaurant with a view of the old town located in the castle on top of a hill near the north end of town. In contrast with Dresden, Meissen was never bombed during WWII and the historic center is still completely intact. What a great last day in Saxony!
